Frequently  ̶A̶s̶k̶e̶d̶ Shouted Questions
& Common Objections

Jesus votes? Isn’t He sovereign? Why would He need me to vote?

Jesus is sovereign and He expresses His sovereign rule, in part, through His people. We are the hands and feet of Jesus and we have a responsibility to fight the forces of evil in every area of our lives, including the political arena.

Didn’t Jesus say: My kingdom is not of this world?

Yes He did. What does that mean though?

Jesus did not arrive to be a political ruler in His first coming. The source of His kingdom isn't earthly power, but heavenly power. And this heavenly power transformed and continues to transform the world. It's our job to pray and see that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

WWJVF? Who would Jesus vote for?

While we don’t know how Jesus would vote in every particular instance, we have some pretty good ideas of how we should vote as His followers (John 10:14). We can be pretty sure Jesus would want us to vote for those who slow and reverse the decay of sin in society (Romans 12:21, Ephesians 6:10-12, Matthew 5:27-30).

Jesus died for our sin. He wouldn’t want us breeding more of it with our votes. This doesn’t mean the candidates we vote for need to be sinless, but that their policies ought to advance the Good and fight the Evil.

Jesus wouldn't vote for that candidate

If the standard is perfection, we wouldn’t be able to vote for anyone. Ever. Instead, we vote for the best candidates we can from the available options we have.

If you think the options aren’t godly enough, that may be God’s way of telling you to run for office. We need less complainers and more laborers. Not every candidate lives up to the fullness of our values but we filter all of our choices through the lens of who would Jesus want me to vote for and who is most likely to frustrate the plans of darkness.

Stay informed. Never miss another election ever again.
